| Mentor Courses provides invaluable insight from an experienced course organiser, examiner and programme director who has run RCGP courses with college examiners at a national level. The course has to date helped thousands of trainees attain the MRCGP and supports hundreds of GP's every year on their pathway to exam success. When the Mentor MRCGP preparation course was set up in 2004, it was with the intention of providing something different. No crash course agendas, no large room lectures, no spoon feeding but an emphasis on practical exam technique in small supportive groups. Our ethos is simple - to provide a fun, personal course tailored to your learning needs and costed to always give trainees value for money. We are fully aware of the huge expenditure of the assessment process and aim always at being the most cost-effective course nationally. All courses carry automatic approval for deanery educational re-imbursement. Mentor Courses also runs nMRCGP workshops for GP VTS schemes. Trainers and trainees alike are welcome to contact Dr. Giam for further details. We value peer support and appreciate that the MRCGP can be a stressful experience - help is always at hand. Whether you are sitting the MRCGP for the first time or as a re-sit - support will always be provided before, during and after the course. I wish you all the best in your preparation and look forward to meeting you on the course! |

| Hello! My name is Nigel Giam and I have been involved in delivering courses in medical education since 1998. I qualified as a GP in 2002 from SLOVTS (Guys and St Thomas' VTS) having previously worked as a medical registrar and OSCE/PACES Course Organiser at St.Thomas'. I currently work as a GP in a teaching practice in North West London. I am a Programme Director for the St Mary's VTS and work as a GP Course Organiser for Kings College School of Medicine (GKT) and as a Senior Examiner, Lecturer and Clinical Skills Tutor for all undergraduate years. I was the National London RCGP Faculties MRCGP Course Director from 2003-2007 and have worked with the AiT committees of both the London Deanery and the RCGP Faculties to support associates in training since 2000. I attained a Distinction in the MRCGP in 2002 and during my preparation I realised the importance of practice and peer support in attaining success in the exam and beyond. Membership to the RCGP does not stop at the exam - we strive to help others in not only attaining the MRCGP but to give an insight into the role of prospective membership and your career in general practice. The value of membership to a body that can support your continuing educational needs cannot be underestimated at a time when general practice faces many uncertainties. I hope that the MRCGP will bring you interesting opportunities and challenges. |
