MENTOR  MRCGP  COURSES
The nMRCGP has been compulsory for GP ST's from August 2007.
It is the exit exam to the ST3 year and successful completion will grant a CCT.

There are 3 aspects to the exam:

It is of paramount importance to always look at the RCGP AKT statements which are
released after each sitting.

These highlight curriculum areas which were performed poorly on in the last exam
sittings and will be tested again.
The area that most candidates perform poorly in is Critical Appraisal - a skill that is
not well taught.

Hot Topics - focus on what is Hot! Look at NICE, CKS Guidance 3-6 months prior to the
exam. The RCGP have also published questions on their Essential Knowledge Update
and E-learning modules as part of CPD. Very topical with free MCQs so do check them

CSA
Clinical Skills Assessment
13 x 10 mins Simulated Surgery with Role Players
From Autumn 2010 all 13 cases will be marked and an aggregate mark will be
produced. The passmark will be determined after analysis of the performance of the
ST3's sitting on the day and therefore will vary with each sitting.
